COMMUNITY BULLETIN May 23, 2024

Good afternoon, South Shore families!

These are busy days at school, as we continue with state testing and navigate a whole bunch of year end special events–starting TONIGHT! You won’t want to miss the Community Resource Fair May 23, 5:00-7:00 PM in the front of the school where buses drop off. Dozens of organizations and vendors will be set up in the front of school to share information about summer programs, support with rent and basic needs, and even sharing some prizes and food bags. We are not serving dinner this time, but there will be popcorn and snacks, and a fun photo booth.

Yearbook Picture Memory Books!   Yearbooks are $20 each, must be pre-ordered by TODAY, and will be delivered during the last week of school to staff and student who preordered. https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/South-Shore-Yearbook-20232024/SbTBeer

Also coming up:

No School Monday May 27—Memorial Day

Next Thursday, May 30, Culture Night! 5:30-7:30, includes a dinner of special foods shared by families. This annual event is a favorite time for South Shore students, staff, and families. Please watch for a flyer coming home in your child’s backpack and send it back to the front office with a picture of your family and information about any food or music you want to share from your culture. Students are working hard on cultural identity projects that will be displayed around the school for this event as well. Culture Night Volunteer Flyer.pdf

Water bottles! The weather is heating up and we need to keep scholars hydrated. This helps a lot with focus, overall health, and preventing headaches. Please be sure to send a reusable water bottle with your student that is not glass, and that has their name on it.

Standardized Testing is still underway.  Please continue to help students prepare by emphasizing good rest, nutrition, and taking their time to show their best work. All district assigned laptops and iPads should remain on campus for the rest of the school year. This will also facilitate easy return of devices.

Please double check your child’s enrollment for next yearUse the school assignment look up tool and contact our front office if your address is in district and you didn’t turn in a choice form to change schools, your PK through 7th grade child should still be assigned to South Shore next year. Check The Source or use the School Assignment Lookup Tool https://schoolassignment.seattleschools.org/

May is the last month to use school library books.   Students need to return all library books after May 31. Thank you.
