South Shore PTSA Updates

The sun is shining and growth is happening this Spring at South Shore. Field Trips, testing, and end of year celebration planning are in full swing. Next week is Teacher and School Staff Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to encourage your child’s teacher or other helpful school staff with a text, email, or even a hand written greeting from your child. A little “Thank You” goes a long way in this stretch to summer break. Chalk will be provided Wednesday for students to chalk the walk with words and pictures of gratitude.

Standardized Testing is underway
You will hear from your grade level teachers about your child’s specific testing schedule. Help them prepare by emphasizing good rest, nutrition, and taking their time to show their best work. Also, all district assigned laptops for 3rd through 8th grade should remain on campus every day through the next several weeks. 

Youth and Parent Pottery Classes starting soon through Soos Creek Studio
Held at Rainier Beach Community Center, free! Ages 8-15. Three classes available:

• Youth/Parent Pottery A, Ages 8-15, April 29-May 15, 2024, Monday/Wednesday 3-4:30pm
• Youth/Parent Pottery B: Ages 8-15, April 29-May 15, 2024, Monday/Wednesday 4:30-6pm
• Youth/Parent Pottery C, Ages 8-15, April 30-May 16, 2024, Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-6pm

South Shore Family Support and Resource Fair May 23, 5:00-7PM, dinner not included. More information coming soon. 

South Shore Culture Night postponed to May 30 please contact Ms. Naz nmasfaw@seattleschools.org to bring food, perform, volunteer, share a cultural activity, or to suggest music.

PTSA Corner

💐 Flowers Support South Shore – Order a bouquet by May 4 and pick-up at a local school on May 11 in time for Mother’s Day! Your purchase will support South Shore, other Title 1 schools and a fair wage for local Hmong farmers. Bouquets are $60 for 1 or $100 for 2. On pick-up day, local volunteers will greet you and you will get to select a bouquet from among the abundance of colors, scents, and blooms delivered fresh by farmers that morning.

3. Choose your pickup location (Dunlap is closest to South Shore)

2nd annual Mariners Fundraiser for the PTSA–Saturday, June 15, 4:15PM Mariners vs Texas Rangers. $25 tickets support all the great support our PTSA provides to South Shore! 

South Shore Middle School Mariners Fundraiser

The Seattle Mariners are extending a discount ticket offer to the students, parents, faculty and staff at our school! Enjoy a special outing with your friends and family members!

• $25 Main Level Seats. Bring out your family and friends and join our school at T-Mobile Park to watch some exciting Major League Baseball action.
• We have a large block of seats reserved for the game, so order your seats now and join us for some fun at the ballpark
