Disney Musicals in Schools Presents… Finding Nemo!!! Please support our South Shore cast and celebrate all their hard work by catching one of the final two performances at school. Suggested donation for admission is $5 adults 16 and older, $3 children. Proceeds benefit elementary drama program at South Shore: Friday March 22, 6PM, Saturday March 23, 1PM

College and Resource Fair Tomorrow at Rainier Beach Community Center:  hosted by CHAMPS, Saturday March 23, 12:00PM-4:00PM  More information about CHAMPS Rainier Beach College and Resource Fair.

Rainier Beach Action Coalition Learning Garden Planning Meeting Tuesday March 26, 6:00PM-8:00PM at South Shore, childcare and dinner provided. Learn more about the Rainier Beach Action Coalition Learning Garden Planning Meeting.

Dress Up Spirit Week April 1 through April 5, planned by Elementary Student Council 

  • Monday: PJ Day
  • Tuesday: Opposite Day (Teachers dress like students and students dress like teachers)

  • Thursday: Twin Day
  • Friday: Character Day (dress as your favorite character from a movie, book, tv, or other form of media

Youth will…

  • Learn to use a DSLR camera
  • Grow technical photography skills
  • Participate in guided nature photography walks
  • Feature their photographers in printed magazine

South Shore Newspaper: Our own school newspaper created by our Middle School Journalism class. Please enjoy The Blue and Gold.

New Dental Care Partnership: Toothsavers! We have a new partnership to bring regular dental services here for our students! Toothsavers does screenings and applies both sealant and fluoride. Next year, they will also have a dentist on staff who will be able to provide more extensive services to our students onsite through regular visits to the school. Please return your students permission slip (went home in backpack mail this week) if you would like them to participate.

South Shore Culture Night coming May 9! 5:30-7:30, please contact Ms. Naz nmasfaw@seattleschools.org to volunteer with a performance, sharing a cultural game or activity, or to suggest songs for the playlist. 

We invite our South Shore families to be a part of our upcoming Culture Night, where we’ll honor and celebrate the unique identities that define each student and contribute to the rich community of South Shore’s culture.

On time, daily attendance is essential for your child’s academic progress and for to our learning community. Our first bell rings at 8:50. School dismisses at 3:25 (2:10 on Wednesday). Please do not request early dismissal in the last 30 minutes of the school day.

School Safety Notes–All volunteers and guests in building need to wear a visitor badge and be accompanied by a staff person. Any classroom visits must be arranged with the teacher in advance. As we work to protect focused learning time, we will ask your student to come to the front to see you if you need to check in with them. 

Parking and Drop Off Update   Parking is not permitted in the bus pull through at front of school, community center parking lot, and no longer permitted at the bank parking lot during pick up and drop off. Caregivers may pull through the left side of the bus loop to drop off students in the morning without leaving their vehicles. Please note, if you use street parking during drop off and choose to walk your child in, please be sure to take them to the rotunda or playground. Classrooms are not open before 8:50.

South Shore Music ProgramSouth Shore Music Boosters website for our instrumental groups led by Mr. Spichak (Orchestra, Band, Drumline). You can find ways to support this program and information about upcoming performances for our student musicians.
